Treat: One

We sponsor rotating charitable donations from miniature gamers and their friends

Hello! I’m Evan Paul aka “DocVelo.” Practicing inpatient internal medicine and re-configuring medical software is my day job, but in mid-2020 something happened which brought that work closer to home. That event was the death of my beloved father-in-law, who passed after a long battle with metastatic prostate cancer. Because of COVID we weren’t able to have a proper memorial at the time, so as a way to fill that void of closure I felt inspired to inject a little bit of effort to get something more meaningful out of one of my favorite hobbies. I hosted a small charity tournament from amongst my friends and sponsored Yavin Base Team League Season 4, and in doing so raised over a thousand dollars for the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

This website represents my wish to keep this spirit going in a more organized way. Treat: One is, simply put, a pathway to focus the attention of gamers (primarily Star Wars Legion players, for now!) on individual charities on a rotating basis. We can make a greater impact on a given cause by focusing our efforts together, and what’s more we can report on our success back to you in the community. I hope to expand this soon into a twitch channel and merch where proceeds will go to the same causes as the direct donations.

Our cause this year is to UNICEF: USA. I’m sure you all know about UNICEF, they help provide necessary relief to children all over the world, a mission that’s especially necessary to assist the girls and boys affected by the current war in Ukraine. We can only hope the conflict ends soon, but the damage done will already be a wound for these children that will take years to heal, if it does at all. Please consider a donation!

If you can spare a few bucks, ANY AMOUNT IS APPRECIATED, then you have my gratitude. We use GoFundMe Charities as our medium so we can track our numbers, be assured that every cent goes toward the donation itself plus the small processing fee that the payment service charges the charity itself. Click here or on the “Donate” link above to contribute. THANK YOU, and may the Force be with you.
